My children have been on my heart more this week than usual. As I watched three young men work in the backyard together to concoct the next greatest thing and listened to my daughter practice and recite a fantastic poem she wrote for her college speech class earlier this week, I can’t help but ponder these things in my heart as time passes. These little children God blessed us with are now becoming young men and a young woman and my thoughts turn to this scripture in Luke:
Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people. Luke 2:51-52
It is hard to watch your children grow up. There are mixed feelings as you watch them begin to carry out and fulfill the plans God is calling them to fulfill. As Mary and Joseph had a few years left to pray and raise Jesus before He set off in ministry, so I too feel the time passing. I find myself as Mary did, pondering and keeping all these things in my heart and praying that each of my children will grow in wisdom and stature and favor with God and with men.
How about you? Do you have children or grandchildren that are growing up way to fast? Take some time today to praise God for the unique way He created them in their mother’s womb and the pray each child will grow in the wisdom and stature and favor with God and men.
