Where do I even start? The Lord has so overwhelmed me with His love and faithfulness today, I can scarce take it all in. When I stepped out in faith and committed to writing for 31 days, I did not have a plan written out as to what I would be writing each day. I still don’t have that plan (which totally freaks me out), but God has been writing it on my heart each day as He is answering the prayer of giving me this day my daily bread (Matthew 6:11) and today was no different.
When I walked into the body of believers to fellowship with my sisters and brothers this morning, I was greeted by a fellow missionary to Uganda who took me aside to share with me a passage he had read this morning. He shared how perfect God’s timing was in bringing it to his attention on the day our church would be participating in Life Chain, but also how he thought it related to what I have been exploring and writing about this month in regards to the Spring of Life.
“Now this is what the LORD says—the One who created you, Jacob, and the One who formed you, Israel—Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. I will be with you when you pass through the waters and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.” Isaiah 43:1-2
You see today across our country and in Canada a Life Chain was formed. Prior to just a few months ago, I could not have told you what a Life Chain was and I definitely had not participated in one. But a young lady in our church was obedient to follow the Lord’s call to invite our church to participate in it and the impact it had on my life as well as many others who participated in it was amazing. The basic idea is for believers all across the country to commit to silently stand on the corners of the streets with signs proclaiming the truth about abortion. (For more details you can click here.)
The truth about abortion is that it does kill. It does hurt women. It does hurt men. It does hurt children. It is sin against God. If it just stopped there we would be hopeless.
However, there is hope. There is a Spring of Life that brings healing and it is not the fountain of youth!!
The One who created and formed each of us in our mother’s womb is our redeemer and He knows each of us by name. He even knows the names of the millions who have been aborted and has redeemed them. He knows the names of the individuals who have had abortions and He has provided a way for them to be redeemed through the death of His own Son, Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit laid such a heavy burden on my heart today for women who have had an abortion. My heart ached for women whom Satan has had bound in the chains of guilt and shame over a sin that has already been redeemed on the cross. My soul cried out for the chains to be broken and for these women to experience the spring of life washing over their souls. For them to really feel the presence of the God who is with them in the middle of the waters and rivers of guilt and shame that seems to be surging over their heads. For these women to recognize, receive, and experience the truth that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). God remembers our sin no more, no matter how great or how small in our eyes, and redeems all things for His glory and His good.
“It is I who sweep away your transgressions for My own sake and remember your sins no more.”
