God’s timing is so perfect. Currently our church is in the middle of a series on idolatry. Our pastor (who I am honored and blessed to be married to) is leading us to examine the idols in our lives and asking us to seek God for how we can chop down (die to) the “idolatrees” that are consuming and killing us physically, mentally, and spiritually. Today we examine how Jesus dies to idol worship when Satan makes one last attempt to get Jesus to sin.
“So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. The Devil said to Him, ‘I will give You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours.’ And Jesus answered him, ‘It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Luke 4:5-8
Satan’s last straw is to promise Jesus He can have all the world, riches, and power if Jesus will only bow down and worship him. How does Jesus die to the promise of riches, fame, and glory? Jesus dies to idol worship by responding again with God’s Word. A reminder to us all that there is only one God we are to worship and only one God we are to serve.
Today I ask you to humbly bow your knees and ask God to reveal any idols that may be hidden in your own heart. Satan wants nothing more than to keep you right where you are and prevent you from truly worshipping and serving the one true God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

There is also a great book called Gods at War that also explores this topic. Click here to find out more.
But above all else, I would encourage you to grab your bible, some tissue, and a quiet spot to get alone with God and allow Him to begin to help you to die to idol worship in your heart.
