Prayers For Fulfilling Your Ministry

When you know that you know that you know, you can persevere through almost anything.  Paul ends his letter to Timothy with the encouragement to endure in the hope of Christ Jesus and His promise to never leave us or forsake us.  Paul knows the days are evil and the temptation to give in to this present world is substantial.  However, he urges Timothy to stand in the Word and not water it down for any reason.  Thus we will close our time praying through 2 Timothy with our minds set on fulfilling the ministry God gives to each of us in proclaiming the unadulterated Gospel message.

We continue praying through 2 Timothy by moving through the following steps:

Lord, open our hearts to Your Word and allow Your Spirit to move through us as we pray through Your Word.

Pray the Scriptures

Lord God Almighty, Judge of the living and the dead, may Your kingdom come and Your will accomplished in our lives.  Help us to proclaim the Gospel message and to persist in it whether convenient or not.  Lord, may we not shrink from rebuking, correcting and encouraging with great patience and teaching.  For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but because of their desires will create their own teachers because they have an itch to hear something new.  They will turn away from hearing the truth and will veer towards myths.  Help us to be joyfully serious about everything, to endure hardships, and to do the work of an evangelist by fulfilling the ministry you have given to each of us. (v1-5).

Acknowledge God as Judge over the living and the dead and ask Him for the resolve to stand firm in the Gospel message no matter the circumstances.  Petition Him for the endurance to fulfill the ministry He has given to you.  If you are uncertain of your ministry, ask Him what it is He has created you to do for His glory.

Lord, through Your grace we pour out our lives as drink offerings knowing our days on earth are coming to an end.  We are fighting the good faith and seeking to finish the race by keeping the faith.  In our weariness at times help us to remember the crown of righteousness which is being reserved for us in the future, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give us on that day not only to us but to all those who have loved His appearing. (v6-8)

Pray for strength to endure faithfully to the end, to press on toward the call of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).

Lord helps us not to get discouraged over those who have left us for this present world.  For You have not left us or forsaken us and we thank You for Your faithfulness.  Lord, send us the tools we need in our ministry whether it be pen and paper, a parking lot, a song, a leader, or a friend.  Lord, You will repay all those that have left You.  Help us to be on guard against those who oppose the Word of the Lord.  (v9-15)

Pray for others around you who are also running the race with you.  Thank God for the hope that is in Christ Jesus.

There have been times when no one has stood with us in the midst of hard times. Please do not count it against them.  For You, Lord have always stood by us and strengthened us so that the proclamation of the Gospel might be fully made through us so that all the nations hear.  You have rescued us from the lion’s mouth; from the enemy who prowls around like a roaring lion looking for anyone he can devour (1 Peter 5:8).  Lord, You rescue us from every evil work and You will bring us safely into Your heavenly kingdom.  To You be the glory forever and ever! Amen. (v16-18)

Ask God to remove any bitterness you may be harboring over believers who did not stand with you in hard times and seek forgiveness for the times you left others by themselves.  Praise God for being your rescue and your ever present help in time of need.  Give Him glory.

Lord, help us to be excited to greet each other when we see one another and may we make every effort to go and encourage other believers.  Father God may your grace and spirit be with each of us. (v19-22)

Praise God for the church.  Pray for opportunities to encourage the church.
