Clothes, Tears, & Promises

I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

It has been one of those days and weeks when I have found myself on multiple occasions questioning God and what He is doing.  The weight of not understanding why certain things are happening the way they are and why some aren’t happening at all burdens and weighs on my heart.  Too many times lately the simple cry, “Lord, I don’t understand,” has come forth from my mouth.

It was in the middle of the tears and folding clothes I found myself once again in a conversation with the Lord.  It was more of muddling through areas I just don’t see God working when my eyes caught a glimpse of His promise and faithfulness from the corner of my eye.  A notecard created over three years ago served it’s purpose yet again.

I was immediately taken back to the day when we had to take our foster daughter to Texas Children’s.  All my strength and knowledge had been depleted.  When walking the aisles at Kroger the night before, I came across a post-it note left by one of God’s obedient children on top of a bag of hot dog buns.

Several weeks later I would take that sticky note along with a card I obtained (sorry I don’t remember the story behind it) and put them on a notecard to remind me of God’s faithfulness in carrying us through any circumstance.  I have held on to that card, and it has been in various locations in our home.

While I still don’t have an answer from the Lord and don’t see a way the circumstances and situations are going to change, I do rejoice that God is God and fulfills His promises.  I take comfort in His Word and seek for Him to give me the strength to trust Him no matter what.  He does have my best interest at heart, and I must rest in it.

Maybe you are feeling the same way.  Something is going on in your life right now, and you just do not see how God is going to make it work out.  Join me as we remember His promises.

Father God, thank You for the reminder that You are our God.  You strengthen and help us.  You hold us with Your righteous right hand through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
